David M. Flitman, Chief Executive Officer

David is an experienced insurance executive with over 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance fields. His impeccable credentials include Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). David began his career as an analyst at Insurance Service Office (ISO), followed by the role of Assistant Vice President and Chief Actuary Mid-Atlantic Group at WR Berkley Group. In 2001, David began a career in Reinsurance joining XL Reinsurance America as Assistant Vice President. In 2002, David expanded his expertise in the reinsurance arena by joining ACE Tempest RE as Chief Actuary and Senior Vice President in Bermuda. Most recently, David was the Executive Director of Global Property Underwriting and Chief Actuary for Flagstone Reassurance Suisse SA.

John W. Burns, Chief Financial Officer

John is a Certified Public Accountant and has over 35 years of experience in insurance, beginning with a career in Public Accounting with KPMG specializing in Banking and Insurance. His experience auditing insurance companies lead to a position as Treasurer for Kemper Corporation in 1978. After nearly 20 years at Kemper, John joined Warrior Insurance Company as Controller with responsibility for establishing their Risk Management and Reinsurance structures. John came to Florida in 2004 to join the team at Universal, North America, as they launched their Florida company. John served as the CFO at Universal for 9 years.

Nancy L. Baily, Chief Operating Officer

Nancy Baily has over 25 years of experience in Property and Casualty insurance, having started her career as an insurance adjuster for Travelers Insurance in Pennsylvania. Her claim career included a number of management roles, including Claim Service Center Manager and Field Operations Director.

Nancy came to Florida in 1996 to lead the Claim Operation of First Floridian Auto and Home Insurance Company, a wholly owned Personal Lines subsidiary of Travelers. Her role at First Floridian was expanded in 1998 to include responsibility for Underwriting and Policyholder Service. In 2000, she was appointed to President and CEO of First Floridian, later re-branded as Travelers of Florida.

Nancy served on the Board of Governors of FL Citizens Property Insurance Company as Vice Chair and Chair of the Claims Committee from 2011 to 2013. Nancy’s most recent position was Vice President of Marketing and Special Services for U.S Cat Adjusters, LLC, an independent adjusting firm with offices in Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

Gus Fernandez, Chief Underwriting Officer

Gus started his Insurance career at a Miami Based Managing General Agency specialized in Personal and Commercial lines Products. In 1983 he joined National Insurance Company and was task with setting up regional offices for the company in Florida. He worked closely with the Executive Vice President on management of day to day Operations, Product Development and Sale and Marketing.

In 1993 He Joined AIB Financial Group & Union American Insurance Company in his role as Vice President of Residual Line he was task with launching and expanding the FRPCJUA/Citizens division for the company. He also established Union American Insurance Company as a servicing Carrier for the Auto JUA and was responsible for operations. Additionally he had Union American Insurance Company approved to be A WYO (Write Your Own Flood) Company with the NFIP. In 2002 he has promoted to Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. He provided leadership and professional guidance in day-to-day operations of Underwriting, Product Development, and Customer Service. Gus has severed on the Board of Directors of Florida Windstorm Underwriting Association, and has been Chairman of the Florida Automobile Joint Underwriting Association. As well as Chairman of the servicing carrier Committee for the FRPCJUA.

In 2003 Gus join the MacNeill Group as Vice President and was task with Launching, Develop, and Managing Underwriting and Customer Service operations for multiple Florida start-up companies. He’s played a key role in development, testing and implementation of online applications that include, aggregate management, policy quoting, document uploading, payment and issuance, and real-time point of sale.

While at MacNeill Gus help launch Safepoint Insurance Company and in 2015 he joined Safepoint as Director of Underwriting. He is charged with setting up in-house operation. He will also be responsible for reviewing and making changes to operational procedure to enhance productivity, streamline processes and improve bottom line results.

Gus graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Saint Thomas University, Miami, Florida; holds a Florida General Lines Property & Casualty License (2-20); and hold a CPIA designation.

Ryan Beck, Chief Claims Officer

Ryan Beck is the Chief Claims Officer for Safepoint Insurance and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s claims functions. Participating in the loss adjustment of claims after multiple hurricanes, wildfires and hail storms has given him extensive catastrophe management experience. He started his career as a field adjuster with a large national property and casualty insurance carrier with increasing roles of responsibility including complex Commercial & Personal Lines large losses. Ryan has managed claims during Florida’s historic 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. In 2009, Ryan joined Frontline Insurance as the Claims Manager, where he managed the day to day claims operations. He mostly recently served as the Claim Process Manager for Prepared Insurance Company. Included in his duties, he served as the Corporate Representative for Prepared Insurance Company representing the company on litigated matters. Ryan holds multiple IICRC designations and is an active member of the Loss Executive Association. Ryan has been with Safepoint since July of 2014.

Amarjit Dhaliwal, Chairman

Amarjit is the Chairman and Chief Investment Principal at Safepoint Insurance. He has been a successful entrepreneur and was the President and Founder of a multiple facility medical center. After a successful career in the medical field, he decided to venture in to new areas as he is passionate about learning and enjoys leading in change driven environments. Amarjit has over 20 years of experience in management and real estate. He is active in local charities and resides in the Tampa Bay area with his wife and two children.
